The project involves a detailed examination of video-recorded ordinary Russian-language interactions between family members and friends in Russia and in the US. The focus will be on identifying and analyzing segments of interactions in which participants engage in reminiscing or co-remembering. Some of the questions the project explores are: How are memories of co-experienced events brought to the conversational floor and for what interactional purposes? How and in what interactional contexts do participants demonstrate and claim remembering? How is co-remembering organized as a course of action? How are participants’ relationships managed in the course of co-remembering?
