Aresty Summer Science
Climate Change in Mountains
Project Summary
This project uses a combination of observations and climate model projections to investigate how temperature and precipitation have been changing in high-elevation regions during the last 50 years as well as how they will change during this century. The research has implications for water resources, biodiversity, recreation, and natural resources in mountains and in their lower elevation surroundings. There is evidence in many regions that temperatures have been warming at faster rates at higher elevations. This research investigates various feedback loops that might be responsible for these enhanced rates of warming.
