Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and the leading cause of activity limitation and physical disability in older people, which has resulted in enormous cost to this country. Developing new drugs and intervention strategies for OA has become a high national priority. Early detection of osteoarthritis will greatly facilitate and expedite the clinical research in OA. The goal of this project is to identify clinical biomarkers for early detection of osteoarthrosis and improve the prevention and intervention strategies of knee osteoarthritis used in current clinical practice. Novel algorithms and software for early detection of osteoarthrosis will be developed.
