Climate change and the Greenland ice sheet
Project Summary
Global climate change has large impacts in the Arctic region. Here, the Arctic Ocean is rapidly losing its summer sea ice cover, and the Greenland ice sheet melting has intensified in recent years. These changes are of great socioeconomic concern as continued loss of sea ice cover and ice sheet mass is likely to have widespread impacts on climate and global sea levels. In this project, students will examine the changing Arctic with quantitative and geospatial methods. Specific project topics may include analysis of sea ice cover, ice sheet melting, and meteorological conditions to examine trends in Arctic sea ice cover, and Greenland ice sheet melting.
